Farm Bureau continues support for product labeling, flag protection
The Grimes County Farm Bureau (GCFB) held its annual county convention Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Anderson. While no resolutions were presented for a vote at this year’s meeting, GCFB will continue to seek truth in labeling and respect for the nation’s flag in schools and public events.
Board member Tim Akers advised those in attendance that the following endorsements are being forwarded to the Resolutions Committee:
* Imitation dairy products should be labeled as such;
* Any products labeled as milk should refer to products originating from lactate animals, not plant based products;
* Only 100% live animal produced protein can be labeled and marketed as a meat product;
* All packaged meat substitutes be labeled as not a meat product;
* All areas of eminent domain as listed in 2019 state policies and any efforts of eminent domain reform in the Texas House and Senate should be supported as well.
* We support teaching the flag code in schools and practicing it when displaying the American flag, regular recitation and explanation of the Pledge of Allegiance using the American flag, and patriotic acts such as performance of the national anthem and Pledge to the flag of the United States at the start of public events and in public schools.
* In addition, we continue to oppose that cultured tissue and plant-based protein products be labeled as meat, and the desecration of the American flag and purging of U.S. history by the removal of symbols that represent historic events and/or persons from our nation’s past.
