Clements to take TSHL oath
Freelance writer and Navasota Examiner reporter, Connie Clements, will be sworn in as a member of the Texas Silver Haired Legislature Wednesday, Sept. 13, 10:30 a.m. at the Navasota City Hall. State Representative Kyle Kacal will administer the oath of office.
Clements was appointed to fill a vacancy in the district represented by the Brazos Valley Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging.
The Texas Silver Haired Legislature (TSHL) was created by the 69th Texas Legislature upon adoption of Senate Concurrent Resolution (SCR) 37, April 3, 1985. Their mission is “to promote good government for all Texans by directly involving Senior citizens in the legislative process. TSHL provides a nonpartisan forum for discussion and debate of Senior issues, advocacy training, and an avenue through which older citizens may serve as a resource to both public and private sectors.”
