BRENHAM – Friends of Bluebonnet Opry proudly welcome Donna B and Matt Mercado to the Silver Wings Ballroom Stage Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m.

Donna B, a native Texan, has been performing country music for 18 years. She sings all country music, from traditional to modern. Her sound has been described as a cross between Wynonna, Anne Murray, Terri Gibbs and Patsy Cline, with the energy of Tina Turner.

Donna B has received awards from several shows, including being named six-time Female Vocalist of the year and three-time Entertainer of the Year. She was awarded Most Inspirational Entertainer of the Year by the Texas Opry Jamboree.

Donna B has appeared on the TNN Charlie Daniels Talent Show, Nashville WSM Midnight Jamboree and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo venues. Her first CD, Mo’ Betta Country” showcases her singer/ songwriter abilities and has received local and international airplay. On her latest CD, “Got Dang Country Song,” Donna B kicks her songwriting into high gear. She wrote nine of the songs on this CD, which she says is a honky tonkin’ jazzy, folksy, bluesy, funky, western swingin’ good time!

Matt Mercado is a 20-year old cowboy/ singer-songwriter from Waller. His two passions are rodeo and music. He has been on a horse before he could walk and has become a true horseman in his own right.

Mercado has been quietly working with Nashville’s best songwriters and musicians. Out of this came his first single, “I should’ve never left Mexico” which peaked at number 36 in Texas radio. He recently caught the attention of Ronnie Huckaby, the leader of “Ace in the Hole band” who’s been playing for George Strait for over 40 years.

His biggest musical influences are George Strait, Keith Whitley, Daryle Singletary, Merle Haggard and Kevin Denny.

Friends of Bluebonnet Opry hosts concerts every third Thursday of the month with proceeds benefitting Hospice Brazos Valley. Tickets are $7 each. The grill is open with great food and drinks are available for purchase.
