Graveside services for Beverly Ann Cobb Moore, age 70, were held in the Evergreen Cemetery Saturday, Aug. 10, with brother Mitchell Beene officiating. She was born Nov. 21, 1948, the daughter of Jabie and Mary Lois Rice Cobb. She passed away June 19 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. She is survived by her brother Timothy Rice Cobb and her aunt Vicki Rice Kelsey both of Houston. She was preceded in death by her sister Tracey Lynell Cobb, brother John Cobb and her grandparents Pat and Bonnie Cook Rice.
Following the service those present were served refreshments in the Keith Community Center. If anyone wishes to donate, they can donate to the Evergreen Cemetery, 8700 CR 172 Iola, Texas 77861. Do remember her family in your prayers.
Several area residents attended the wedding of Fallon Leeta Vaughn to Justin Garcia at the Moore Ranch on the Brazon, Millican Sunday, Aug. 11. Fallon is the daughter of Davis Lee and Debra Ann Vaughn of Keith. They along with other family members and family friends attended the service. The other family members were her grandmother Edna Reed of Iola. Others attending were her Uncle John Eugene Vaughn and sons Brendon, Tucker and Aiden all of Keith. Her Uncle Darrell Reed and friend Maria Johnson of Iola, cousins Connie Davis Francis, Payton Ray Brown, John Ray Maxwell, Wonda Dane and Travis Stein all attended. The service was well attended, and all had a wonderful time. Following the ceremony, a barbecue meal was served. The Garcias will make their home in College Station. May God bless them.
Well folks it’s school time again. The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 21, the day The Examiner comes out. I bet lots of children will be sad and even more parents will be glad. My Aunt Mable Harmon before her death loved to sit on her porch and watch the children play on the playground.
There will be a back to school bash at Evergreen Baptist Church Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. The fun event will include Taco Street Grill Food Truck, Kona Ice and a mobile video game theater trailer. There will also be outdoor sports and games. The event will be fun for the entire family and everyone is invited to attend.
More fun is planned for Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday, Aug. 25. David Crain will be in the morning worship service at 11 a.m. David is a high-energy Christian musician and speaker who will inspire and challenge you. He has traveled nationwide using music, humor and a very direct approach to reach people of all ages. He will also return for the evening service beginning at 6 p.m. Following the service their will be a time of fellowship over an ice cream social. Make plans to attend either service or both. Hope to see you there.
Ed Costello preached at Evergreen Baptist Sunday, Aug. 11, filling in for pastor Jeff Morgan who was out of town visiting family. He did a wonderful job.
The monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club will be Thursday, Aug. 22, beginning with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. During the business meeting the main item of business will be the bill for fixing the air conditioner. The new unit cost $2,432.91. Work on the outside of the building will cost around $1,000. Hopefully the membership will come up with the needed funds to take care of this cost.
The regular meeting of the Iola-North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star No. 458 will meet at the Pyramid Masonic Lodge No 593 in North Zulch Monday, Aug.
26. The meeting will start with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by their business meeting. All members of the Eastern Star are welcomed to attend.
