White Hall 150-year celebration Nov. 18
Last week I had my own rules given to me by a 2-year-old, “no flip flops outside.” Okay, gotcha Mr. Kohen. It is interesting to me that a 2-year-old has such a memory.
I want to wish a belated happy birthday to my friend and mentor, Beth McGinty. I failed to have her in my birthday list last week for Nov. 11. I hope your day was a very good one.
White Hall Community VFD had another successful first Saturday BBQ fundraiser. Thanks to all the dedicated customers who continue to come and support our cause. It takes many volunteers to make this sale possible and I thank them for their hard work. The following Monday was the monthly business meeting with 16 members and three guests present. Joseph Woolley and Leslie Long were sworn in as new members. These two have been working already and we are fortunate to have them in our volunteer group. Congratulations to “Pippy” and Leslie. Business meetings are the first Monday of the month and the community is welcomed to attend.
Celebrate the 150-year anniversary of White Hall Nov. 18. Please contact former residents and current residents to come and celebrate this special occasion. There are plans for music, food trucks, bounce house, cornhole, time capsule, face painting and other activities. Feel free to bring copies of pictures or notes for the time capsule. We have notes available to write on. Also, bring your lawn chairs and additional friends to celebrate. Admission to the event is free, but vendors will charge. If you are interested in assisting, please feel free to contact me.
Food vendors and the Courtney- White Hall 4-H group are the only people collecting money. The 4-H is working towards their Forey Frenzel Scholarship, which they do each year in the fall. If you are interested in donating monies for a cause, please write your check to the White Hall Taxpayers Association, as all monies remaining, and special donations will be given to them to assist with maintenance projects.
If you have preorders for the Courtney-White Hall 4-H please contact Kaitlin Mikulin, 936-8705242 or Linda Robbins, 979-2190579 for your special requests. All their goods are donations only.
There will be a special POW/ MIA ceremony Nov. 19, at Whiskey Tango Bar and Grill beginning at 3 p.m. Please spread the word and come join in this event.
Wreaths Across America is Dec. 16. The Ladies Circle of Salem Lutheran Church voted to assist with this event again. The price this year is $17 per wreath. If you wish to help cover all the veterans in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, please let me know by Nov. 19, so I can collect the money and place the order. If you wish to purchase a wreath for your own veteran who is not resting at Salem, call me.
Please add our sick and homebound friends to your prayer lists. These friends include Frank Surovik, III, Lois Bell, Jean Fleischhauer, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Suzie Rimes,Alexander Hanna, Troy Weigand, Shawn Welch, Delores Mitschke, Glenn Binder, Von Herring and Betty Feldmann.
