Trunk or Treat, Tina Kott fundraiser this weekend
The 15th Annual Trunk or Treat event on Main St. in downtown Anderson is Saturday, Oct. 28 from 6-8 p.m. This event is a safe and fun place for children of all ages to have a great Halloween experience. There will be free candy and activities for children and adults. Each year the evening is provided by local businesses, organizations, churches and individuals. Our local café owner, Tina Kott, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. A medical bill fundraiser will be held Sunday, Oct. 29, at the American Legion Hall starting at 11 a.m. You can purchase a chicken spaghetti dinner with salad, dessert and a drink for a $10 donation. A live auction will begin at noon and a silent auction will be ongoing. A couple raffles will be available that day. Raffle tickets can also be bought at the café. St. Mary’s annual huge rummage sale is set for Saturday, Nov. 4 in the parish hall and church grounds, 8227 CR 205 in Plantersville, 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Early bird shopping is from 7-9 a.m. for a charge of $10 per person.After 9 a.m., to enter is free. Kelsey Coronado was united in marriage to Caleb Rozypal Saturday, Oct. 14 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church inAnderson by Deacon Russell Pasket. A dinner and dance reception followed at the Parish Hall. Kelsey is the daughter of Vicki Coronado and Paul and Cynthia Coronado of Anderson and Caleb is the son of John and Kelli Rozypal of Corpus Christi. Congratulations to this couple who will make their home in Spring.
Cecilia-Ann Gurka married long-time guy friend Cameron O’Dell Saturday, Oct. 21, with a garden ceremony at the home of the bride’s grandmother, Dorothy Gurka. Judge Lester Underwood was the presiding minister for the wedding. After the ceremony a dinner and dance reception were held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Anderson. The couple will take a honeymoon trip to San Antonio. Cecilia-Ann is the daughter of Valinda and Donald Davey and the late Randy Gurka. Cameron is the son of James Beauleau of Ft. Worth. The couple will make their home in the Bryan-College Station area with their 3-yearold daughter Chloe.
Don’s sister, Denise Sowell Shead, held the 50th class reunion of Navasota High School Class of 1973 at our home Saturday, Oct. 21. Twenty-four classmates and 12 other guests attended for a total of 36 people. They enjoyed a barbecue dinner catered by Wayne Fread. For several hours, those classmates reminisced about the last 50 years. Some of them hadn’t seen each other since graduation. It was a nice and relaxing day filled with lots of laughter and good conversation.
The Anderson-Shiro Education Foundation held a very successful 10th Anniversary fundraiser Saturday evening. Thanks so much to all those who took part in any way to make this event great.
