lola Food Pantry Feb. 19
The membership of Evergreen Baptist Church enjoyed breakfast fellowship Sunday, Jan. 30, in the fellowship hall with approximately 50 attending. All sort of good food was enjoyed by all. Even more attended morning worship. We were so full that it was hard not falling asleep in service. During service we also had communion. It was a full and wonderful day.
The food pantry will be open Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Iola Missionary Baptist Fellowship Hall from 9-11 a.m. Anyone needing a helping hand are invited to come take advantage of the free food. You never know what goodies will be available. Volunteers are needed the day before beginning at noon. Come out and assist those in need. Hope to see you there.
A full number of members attended the monthly meeting of Bedias Masonic Lodge No. 651. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. A large number attended with hope of winning the traveling gavel that the lodge won last year in Madisonville. Cedar Creek Masonic Lodge No. 300 from Kurten, who had 13 members present, won the gavel. A good number of Masons will go to Kurten to attend the lodges next meeting hoping to win the gavel for their respective lodge.
It looks like there will be a few more cold weather days in our area. Just put up with it because it will end soon. As the saying goes, this soon will pass.
There will not be a political rally at the February Keith Civic Club meeting, as I reported there would be in my last column. Just be sure to vote for the best and hope for the best. Election Day is Tuesday, March 1. The Keith location will be open as will many other locations. Be sure to vote.
