Whitehall News

Thanks to all the supporters of the WHCVFD! We appreciate all the donations, live auction and bucket raffle buyers and those people who came to enjoy the food and the company.

We have a new mayor in Whitehall. Outgoing Mayor Carol Serres passed the “rubber” gavel to Mayor Charlie. Charlie is the son of Chad and Nancy McMillan. He has a loving big brother, Bobby, along with his fantastic grandparents and Great Aunt and Uncle who were present for the election. Charlie’s inaugural ball is being planned and I am so excited! In case you don’t know, Charlie is 10 months old with a personality much bigger than you would expect. I look forward to working with/for him in the near future.

The VFW Post 4006 is hosting the Veteran’s Day parade and a noon meal at the post on November 9. The meal will begin directly after the parade. The Auxiliary is providing a silent auction, raffle (tickets are being sold currently) and a bake sale. There will be wreaths and Buddy Poppies available also. We would appreciate participation in this event to honor our soldiers and veterans. Thank you. The parade line-up begins at 9:45 and the parade is at 10:30. If you have questions, please contact Commander Tony Lambert at 936.218.5244.

Even though the Queen of Hearts game is over, I would hope that the community will still support the sponsors of the game; the Whiskey Tango and the VFW Post 4006. There are fundraisers held for people in need at the WT often and the Post has various fundraisers throughout the year. There is always a drop-off box for nonperishable grocery items and blankets at this time of the year. These items are collected for our community. People in need are all around us so please support when and where you can.

The WHCVFD station will be open October 31 for Halloween. Bring the community kiddos where they can have a safe place to celebrate. We will be there at 6 p.m. Come see us!

Condolences to the family of Andrew Gerke who was involved in an auto accident last week that took his life. He touched so many people in the county. Prayers are extended to the family.

Another family to pray for is the Charles Wellman family. Mr. Wellman was a “Mr. Fixit” and a devoted fireman.

There were just too many of our county who passed away this past week. Be sure to reach out to these families and show them that you care.

Our sick and homebound friends include Billie Wittenbach, Sue Kolojaco, Lawrence Lieder, Dorothy Mahaffey, Charles Waters, Mary Bauer, Albin Finke, Rosa Finke, Lois Bell, Rickey Binford, Leon Gorney, Doug Taylor, Garry Wise, Kathy Cave Wells, John Lawrence, Glenn Binder, Pauline Kaspar and Alexander Hanna, grandson of Curtis and Darla Kolojaco. Please add these friends to your prayer list.
