Grimes County VFW Post 4006 members conducted a beautiful tribute to the life of Mr. Carl Dry Saturday, March 21. Those attending were humored by Pastor Bruce Wood, Quartermaster Steve Storey and Commander Hal Reed with their stories about Mr. Carl. I am sure that everyone in the Post had been “convinced” at least once by Mr. Carl to take an officer position or job to assist with helping not only veterans but residents of Grimes County who were in need. The funny part is that you really did not realize what he had done until it was too late for you to back out. His legend lives on with the Carl Dry Veteran’s Award that will be given each year by the county. I am going to miss him picking on me.

I was unable to attend the White Hall Birthday Bash but from what I hear, they did pretty good this year. I hope that all the vendors were able to profit and will return next year. The winner of the People’s Choice Award for the classic vehicle was Gary Stevens with his ’46 Packard Clipper.

My physical therapist has really been good to me. I did forgive him for making me do squats at the sink. We were talking about jellies, so I gave him two small jars to take home. The following day I received a video of this 3-year-old boy at the table who said, “thank you Ms. Georgia for my jelly.” I have watched that video several times and I smile each time.
