VFD BBQ fundraiser sold out quickly
Wow the month of June is already gone! I have always heard the older you get, the faster the time passes.
Freedom Festival in Navasota was hot but fun. It always makes me feel good to work for veterans and their families. I want to thank all the people who donated items for our first small bucket raffle. In addition, thanks to all the people who came and purchased tickets. We didn’t get as many sales as I had hoped we would, but every little bit helps when we have veterans in need.
Our intention is to have our big fundraiser with Veterans Day. Please mark your calendars. The Auxiliary is still collecting items so if you would want to donate, please let me know.
White Hall Community VFD had a very successful day last Saturday. We sold out of barbecue. I saw several customers come up and had to be turned away. It took about 2 hours to sell out. Thanks again to all our loyal customers. In addition, the VFD is in need of new air packs. It would be great if the community we serve could assist with our need. Air packs are very costly, but our firefighters need them while putting out fires.
I hope everyone had a fun, safe and exciting July 4. Little man was at my house and he enjoyed flags waving, singing, coloring Paw Patrol sheets, learning colors, watching fireworks videos on Facebook and more. Only thing we didn’t do was anything with water involved. Gingi was not into that but I was so excited to see the rain!
Please add the family of Lawrence Newsome to your prayers as we lost another veteran. Mr. Lawrence has been in a wheelchair for a long time having lost both legs during his life. However, his wife Barbara was able to bring him to several VFW Post 4006 meetings. Barbara joined our auxiliary but has not been able to be very active since she was his primary caretaker. Had it not been for veterans, such as Mr. Lawrence, where would you be now?
The White Hall Taxpayers Association met Thursday for their quarterly meeting. The next meeting will be Thursday, Oct. 5.
Please add our sick and homebound friends to your prayer list. These friends include Charlotte Serres, Frank Surovik, III, Lois Bell, Jean Fleischhauer, Sue Kolojaco, Mary Bauer, Rosa Finke, Mary Whatley, Billie Wittenbach, Alexander Hanna, Troy Weigand, Shawn Welch, Delores Mitschke, Glenn Binder and Betty Feldmann.
