It was good to see Ms. Pauline Kaspar in church Sunday. Even though she is still not completely well, she was smiling and she looks great! The Sonshine Sisters really miss her at our domino games and are excited that she may be returning soon. We still have her in our prayers.
The Salem Lutheran Voters met for their quarterly meeting last week with a very good attendance. They have established beginnings of plans. Even though we do not have a current pastor, we still have a vacancy pastor and visiting pastors who are wonderful at telling God’s Word. We encourage members and visitors to come and worship.
Speaking of church, we also have Lynn Grove Methodist Church and Union Grove Baptist Church in our community. Salem begins at 10 a.m., Lynn Grove begins at 9 a.m., and I believe that Union Grove also begins at 10 a.m. With the condition of our country, everyone could find solace by attending church and enjoying fellowship with other members.

You might have noticed and wondered about the furry guests in our church pews. Austin Shine and his mom Jenifer attend Medina UMC in Castroville and they have furry guests in their pews. Austin thought it would be nice to donate his furry friends to Lynn Grove UMC. Sometimes children and adults need something to cuddle, pet or maybe just to hold during church service. If your child will not part with the animal, take it home and we will replace as needed. We hope that these furry guests will bring comfort, joy, peace and love to your little wigglers.
Our January Saturday Evening Worship was well attended with approximately 30 people present. There was lots of delicious food that was brought, shared and devoured. It is good to be able to make and take time to sit down with others and take a break from life’s busy schedule. Fellowship is so important to help us stay connected not only to each other, but also to God. The next Saturday Evening Worship will be Saturday, March 21, at 5 p.m. We hope that you will join us.
The other day I saw a picture that one of the trainers at Navasota High School sent to my daughter, Kacie. It was a man in a suit with a hood. The oddity of it was that the suit was made completely out of Bubble Wrap. The trainer said he was ordering this for Paige since she now has a fractured toe. The child loves to dance but walking seems to really be a challenge for her.
Basketball season ended for my two junior high kiddos. I missed the last game in North Zulch, but I sure wish I had gone. I was told the girls lost 50 plus to four with Bree making the four points. She also made her standard five fouls right at the end of the game. You would think the coach would question her last foul since it appeared to be purposely done but he gave her a “high 5” and congratulated her. I understand that the coach was somewhat discouraged with the referees.
Wendy Kimich and I went to Burton Thursday for a junior high basketball game for Bean and Bree. We went early and took the tour of the cotton gin. The huge diesel engine impressed me because I know that Jordan enjoyed seeing it. We made other stops then headed to the gym. The surprise visit was worth the trip; Bree was excited to see Wyndy. The boys won. The girls lost by two points and Bree only had four fouls!
