On Sunday, Feb. 9, my siblings and I were at my mom’s in Dobbin starting to work on the house when we got a call from a good friend, Alex Gilchrist. Alex is our “tree man” and he called to tell us that he was bringing over five Magnolia trees (one for each of us) to plant in our yards in memory of our mom Dolores Hoffart. We were all so touched by the gesture and couldn’t wait to get them planted. The weather was kind of yucky and cold most of the week, then came the weekend and the weather was really nice. So, this past Sunday Don and I found a spot on our property to plant the tree. I’m so excited to watch it grow!

Randil Taylor turned 80 years old Monday, Feb. 10. His family threw a birthday party for him at Juan & Linda’s Mexican Restaurant in Anderson. Unfortunately, Randil ended up in the hospital and did not make it to his own party but the party went on. He was reached by phone and we all sang Happy Birthday to him. Keeping Randil in our thoughts and prayers, everyone enjoyed honoring this special guy.

Speaking of parties, Jason Westmoreland, co-owner of Circle Star Firearms in Anderson, turned 42 on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14. Throughout the day, Jason sported a princess crown and necklace as he greeted guests stopping by to wish him a happy birthday.
