It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Remember to have routine mammograms to help catch this deadly disease in its early stages.
Thursday, Oct. 31, a fun time is planned at Planters-ville Baptist Church from 7 p.m. till 9 p.m. Children ages 2-12 are invited for games, a pinata, bounce house, lots of candy, a costume contest and much more. Veterans needing flu shots can get a free flu vaccine at Walgreens until March 31, 2020. To receive the free vaccine, veterans need to have their Veterans Health ID card and have one other form of ID.

The Junior Leadership Lab Expedition will be held at Carolina Creek Camp in Huntsville Nov. 8 and 9 for sixth through eighth-grade. Registration is $100 and is due by Oct. 16.

Texas 4-H Foundation is having a Christmas card contest. Submissions must be postmarked by Oct. 25. Proceeds will go toward the County Grant Program. Submit your design and you could be one of five students to win a $100 scholarship. The contest is open to 4-H members of all ages. Winning art will be used as the official 4-H Foundation Christmas Cards which will be available for purchase.
Robotics Project Leader Training will be held Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. at the Walker County Stem Shelter in Huntsville. Topics will include how to start projects, understanding the EV3 Kits, holding practice, building and programming, contest opportunities and new major show contest theme.
