County Road 206 in the Blackberry Community is open for now, but I don’t know when they are planning on finishing the work. I’ll keep you all posted. I have to give a shout out to the contractors; the road work thus far looks great. We are all waiting on the finished product.

The Navasota City-Wide Garage Sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 6. Register with the City of Navasota Utilities Department to host a garage sale. The required permit fee is $5. Deadline to register Friday, Oct. 29. A map of locations will be published in The Examiner Wednesday, Nov. 3, and online at www.navasotatx.gov. Thanks in advance.

Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce has presale tickets available for the Reds, Wheats and Blues wine/beer walk in historic downtown Navasota on Nov. 13, from 2-6 p.m. Presale tickets are $20 and $25 the day of the event. The Navasota Farmer’s Market is Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the Navasota Public Library, 1411 E. Washington Avenue, in Navasota. Are you worried about Christmas gifts arriving on time? There will be over 30 vendors available, so you can shop for Christmas.

City of Plantersville Treats on a Dirt Street will be held Thursday, Oct. 28, from 6-8 p.m. at 11335 Lodge Lane. Trunks, tailgates and tables will be set up with treats provided by local neighbors and sponsors. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

St Mary’s will be having its huge annual rummage sale Saturday, Nov. 6, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early bird shopping is 7 a.m. till 9 a.m. There is something for everyone.

Constitutional Amendments election early voting began Monday, Oct. 18 and continues through Friday, Oct. 29. Regular hours will be 8 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. at the Grimes County Courthouse and Navasota Center. Brent Beamesderfer is holding a Hunter Education Course Saturday, Oct. 30, from 8-5 p.m. at Texas Relay Station in Plantersville. Minimum age is nine years old, fee is $15, cash paid the day of the class. To register for the class, go to www.tpwd.tx.gov. Each person must have their own email address. Fall Household Hazardous Waste clean-up is Saturday, Oct. 30, from 7 a.m. till 2 p.m. at Twin Oaks. They will not accept household garbage, appliances/Freon, tires, medical sharps, ammunition, 55-gallon drums or business generated waste. Call 979-764-3809 for more information.

There will be a Chili Cook-off Benefit to honor Baby Noelle Tomkivits Saturday, Nov. 6, at noon at the Whitehall Community Center, 14536 FM 362 in Navasota. The event is free to the public. Join us at the Annual Plantersville - Stoneham Bunch 20 Guns for 20 Bucks ribeye steak dinner & gun raffle Thursday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. There will be a steak dinner, auction, live bucket drawings, card games, refreshments, and more. All proceeds benefit the youth of Grimes County. Entry tickets are $20 and include a ribeye steak dinner.
