Knights Council 4054 raffle
As many of you know Rocky Weller died April 30. Rocky was a familiar face in Anderson and the surrounding area. He worked at the grocery store here in town back in the day and Kott’s Café for many years. A Memorial service will be held for Rocky Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church Hall in Anderson. Presiding at the service will be former Zion Lutheran Pastor Kermit Bostelman. A light lunch in the hall will immediately follow the service. So, there will be plenty of food for everyone, if you plan to attend please let Terry Licce know by calling or texting her, 936-661-5919.
The Anderson Food Pantry, 367 Fanthorp St., will be open Thursday, Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. until noon. All residents of Grimes County in need of food can participate. For more information, contact Renee Fredwood, 936-873- 5005.
First Friday at Fanthorp Inn will be held Aug. 5 from 12 noon until 7 p.m. The Inn is located at 579 S. Main St. in Anderson. Special guided tours will be at noon, 4 and 6 p.m. On this particular Friday you are invited to meet the man who started it all, Henry Fanthorp. Gather around the corn crib and hear the tale of this Englishman’s journey to Texas and his plans for the future. If you love history, don’t miss this one!
The Knights of Columbus Council 4054 is holding a meat, gas and grocery raffle. Tickets are $50 per ticket and only 100 will be sold. The drawing will be held Aug. 9, unless the tickets are sold out at an earlier date. First prize will be a $500 Visa gift card; second prize will be a $300 Visa gift card; and the third prize will be a $200 Visa gift card. Proceeds from all fundraisers that the Knights put on are used to support the following: scholarships for local Catholic youth; local Catholic parishes, seminarian candidates, disaster relief and Christmas gifts for local families in need.
