Easter Sunrise Service April 9

The annual Stewart Family Reunion was held at Keith Community Center Saturday, March 25, with around 50 family and friends attending. Lots of good food and desserts were available to feast on. To me the best dessert was the pineapple upside down cake. A good time was enjoyed by all and the weather was nice – unlike the week before when it was cold.

Area residents were sorry to learn of the death of Terry Shiflet who passed away March 12. His funeral was held Saturday, March 18, at Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Iola with Bro. Larry Andrews officiating. Burial was in Pankey Cemetery near Bedias. He was born June 4, 1956 to J.T. and Myrtle Nobles Shiflet. They both preceded him in death. He graduated from Iola High School in 1975. Do remember all his family members in your prayers.

Keith Civic Club will have their annual bake sale April 8, from 9 a.m. until sold out at the Aurora store, 5015 Highway 30. Baked goods will be purchased by donation only. Pay with cash, check or Venmo. Pick up a tasty dessert for Easter. Money raised will go into the maintenance building fund. Come out and help support the civic club.

Our friends and neighbors, Ed and Yvonne Costello, recently returned home from a trip to Israel. On their trip they visited the tomb of Jesus. The Wailing Wall, Jordan River and other sites. They certainly enjoyed their visit.

Iola North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star held their monthly meeting at the Pyramid Masonic Lodge in North Zulch Monday, March 27, with a good number of members and visitors in attendance. The covered dish meal featuring a variety of good eats was enjoyed by all. Following the meal there was a guest speaker, Walter Prescher, the digital navigator of the Easter Seals for the greater Houston area. He was well received. During the meeting a variety of items were discussed and acted upon.

The annual Sunrise Service will be held 7 a.m. Sunday, April 9, at Zion Cemetery in Iola. Do come out and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. All are invited to attend.

June Templeton spent several days in the hospital but she is home now.
