Read moreCourtesy photo: Two Navasota KickStart Kids (KSK) students, Grace Mendez and Christopher Price, earned black belt and second-degree black belt respectively Saturday, May 14. The test consisted of showcasing their mastering of Martial Arts Techniques in several specified patterns called Kata. This was followed with a display of basic Martial Arts Techniques, creating and implementing self-defense scenarios, and then sparring against various opponents. Since KSK began at Navasota Junior High in 2010, nearly 1,500 students have entered the program and 27 have obtained black belts.
