Courtesy photo: Two Navasota KickStart Kids (KSK) students, Grace Mendez and Christopher Price, earned black belt and second-degree black belt respectively Saturday, May 14. The test consisted of showcasing their mastering of Martial Arts Techniques in several specified patterns called Kata. This was followed with a display of basic Martial Arts Techniques, creating and implementing self-defense scenarios, and then sparring against various opponents. Since KSK began at Navasota Junior High in 2010, nearly 1,500 students have entered the program and 27 have obtained black belts.

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston Memorial Museum announces it will join museums nationwide in participating in Blue Star Museums, a program which provides free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families this summer. The 2022 program will launch Saturday, May 21, Armed Forces Day, and end Monday, Sept. 5, Labor Day.
