The foursome from NOV Grant Prideco came in first place and led the golfers at the 17th Annual Bob Whitten Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by the Navasota Grimes County Chamber of Commerce last week. They posted a two-stroke victory over second place winner Savory Fine Foods and third place finisher CForce Bottling Company.

Grimes County has always offered curbside voting to voters that are unable to enter a polling place and vote traditionally. Duo Gos are a simple adaptation to the current Hart InterCivic Verity equipment that allows staff the ease of use and mobility for voters who need curbside voting. The new equipment is lighter and makes it easier for staff to transport the machine outside to the vehicle of a disabled voter for voting.

TODD MISSION - A Grimes County Sheriff’s Officer was injured while working off-duty security at the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville Sunday, Oct. 19. A joint press release issued by Navasota Police Department and Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, stated several officers from NPD and GCSO were working off-duty security at TRF when a disturbance took place around 7:15 p.m. near a tavern.

Texas Birthday Bash will celebrate it’s 11th anniversary in March 2023 and the City of Navasota is planning a lineup release party Friday, Nov. 4. The lineup for the annual Texas Independence Day celebration will be announced with a party on the lawn at Navasota City Hall, 200 East McAlpine Street in Navasota from 6-8:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, coolers and prepare for a night of family-friendly fun! There will be food vendors on-site and giveaways.

Read moreIn the first of two actions related to the new Hidden Hills Subdivision, the Navasota Planning and Zoning Commission denied Ante Development, LLC’s variance request regarding cluster mailboxes at its Oct. 14 Regular Meeting. The vote followed a public hearing with no comments against the variance request. The 105-home subdivision is located along Laredo Street off N. LaSalle. Chapter 10 Subdivision Regulations, Article 7, Section 7.13 requires a minimum of two-vehicle off-the-street access to cluster mailboxes for pedestrian safety and traffi c right of way. If approved, the developer would not have been required to provide offstreet parking for the mailboxes which will serve Phases 1 and 2 residents.
