The famous St. Joseph’s Stew Supper is Thursday, March 16 at 6 p.m. in the parish hall in Stoneham. Supper will be served after a 5:30 p.m. Mass in the church. This yearly event is put on by the Altar Society to celebrate St. Joseph’s Feast Day. A delicious homemade beef stew, wonderful bread and homemade pies are on the menu. Meal for adults is $10 and $5 for children 12 and under. They usually have some left over you can buy to take home. Lots of people bring their own bowls or containers. Only in the country, right? A raffle and short auction will coincide with the supper. Don’t miss it.

Meetings help the community know what is going on with the department, they can ask questions and visit with volunteer firefighters and auxiliary members. This is not a means of getting you to join, but a way of supplying information about our department. However, we are always ready for new members. Training for firefighters is planned by our Training Coordinator, Christopher Vickers.

Bean played baseball in Bellville Friday at Faith Academy. Fortunately, there was a father from Somerville who took over the yelling, arguing an out that was called on Bean. He had me laughing. The team does not have strong pitchers and they walked in quite a few runs. The coach started moving boys to the mound. The loud father hollered at Joni that Bean would be pitching. She laughed and said no, but he was placed on the mound. I lost count, but I think he was the seventh boy on the mound and the last! That big boy has never pitched, and you could tell! He threw a couple of strikes, but the other pitches were really wild. I was laughing so hard that I started coughing. Another parent from Somerville came over with a cough drop for me!
