When you are going to work or coming from work you need to be aware of your surrounding as much as possible. Unfortunately these days we are subject to be attacked at any time. When a woman leaves her home she should have her keys in hand. If she holds them with the car key sticking up between the second and third finger and the hand closed, this can be a formidable weapon; a punch to the ribs, face or arms can cause great pain. The main thing is it can buy you time to get away, use a whistle or scream. Just remember to stay away from situations that could cause trouble. Don’t shop at night. If you have to leave work at night get a security guard to escort you to your car. If you’re at a grocery get one of the sackers to take your bags out. Be more alert. Those of you who will be hunting in the Sam Houston National Forest should remember three problems that you may encounter — fire ants, wild hogs and emus. When the market for emus busted some people couldn’t get rid of them and they simply turned them loose in the national forest. They can really mess up your hunting, and they will come after you. The same may happen with some of the wild hogs. Personally, if I was going to hunt there, I would use a tree stand. Hogs and emus are not usually in trees.
