Foster children from Grimes County will sleep a little warmer thanks to the Charm and Sewing 4-H Chapter of Grimes County Extension Service. Dozens of fringe blankets, made by children from 1118, were donated to the Grimes County Child Welfare Board Rainbow Room Nov. 22.

Read moreRumex crispus, yellow dock, is a perennial seen year-round in southeast Texas. In late winter to spring there is a basal rosette that by summer has sent up a stalk 2 to 5 feet. It can be eaten raw or roasted. Flowering is in spring and early summer. Small, greenish-white flowers cluster around the stalk. Fruits are oval, about ¼ inch long.
